GDD Agriculture

GDD is located to the south of the Tropic of Cancer, with a moderate climate, plentiful rain and fertile soil. It is blessed with abundant agricultural resources, such as fruits, vegetables, poultry and rice. People here have planted and raised them since ancient times. Many of the products here are famous both at home and abroad, including Luogang “Nuomizi” litchi (Litchi chinensis Sonn.Nuomici), Luogang azure jade (Biyu) litchi, Zengcheng Gualv litchi, Luogang sweet orange, big sweet fruit variety of carambola (Averrhora carabola L.), big fruit bayberry, wampee, guava, black olive, longan fruit, Zengcheng see-mew rice, fakse pakchoi, Jiufo gardenia, Jiufo spotted chicken and Huocun chilled chicken. Among them, Luogang “Nuomici” litchi and Luogang sweet orange have been honored as Guangzhou’s famous products and the “Rainbow” special-purpose fertilizer produced by Sino-Canadian Mixed Chemical Fertilizer Plant has been granted as a product of Guangdong’s famous brand.
After great efforts have been made to optimize the operation mechanisms and modes of agriculture and adjust agricultural structures, the market economy system in the rural area of this District has been greatly improved and it is obvious to observe the achievements of agricultural industrialization. A series of national, provincial and municipal model areas and model projects of agricultural industrialization operation have been established; together with a series of regional, professional and large-scale production, transportation and processing bases for agricultural products, the traditional mode of planting-raising of the agricultural economy has been changed into the mode of urban industry. The major model projects of agricultural industrialization operation include Jiufo Gardenia Base – the largest gardenia plantation base in Southeast Asia, the “South Asia Tropical Fruit Model Base” of Ministry of Agriculture of P.R.C, “Spark Project Model Project” of Ministry of Science and Technology of P.R.C, Jiufo Tangxia Fruit World – one of the ten model bases of modern agriculture of Guangzhou, Jiufo Fengxia Jiangfeng Original Breed Chicken Farm – a national leading agricultural enterprise, Jiufo Xiezhuang Liangtian Original Breed Pigeon Farm – a municipal leading agricultural enterprise, Jiufo Yantang Zhouxing Chufa Plantation Base, Jiufo Fengxia Lizhi Live Pig Model Area, Jiufo Spotted Chicken Export Base, Huocun Chilled Chicken Export Base, Jiufo Leek Flower Production Model Area, Patchouli Plantation Base, Yonghe Dongling Vegetable and Fruit Logistics Base and Hengfa East Fish Export Base.
Supported by the abundant ecological resources and beautiful natural environment in the district and based on the efforts to establish vegetable, fruit, flower and horticulture bases, it has also adequately developed ecological villages for recreation and experiencing with the characteristics of a fruit-abundant land and rural charms; a number of ecological parks for agriculture, sightseeing, tourism and recreation, such as Ancient Litchi Ecological Park, Gardenia Forest Park, Xiangxue Park, Qingqing Village, Baiyun Manor, the Flower, Fruit and Vegetable Area of Shiling Reservoir, the Forest Park of Jinkeng Reservoir and Phoenix Mountain Park, have become GDD’s business card of ecological and urbanized agriculture.
